Who are we?

Carolina Brière has a demonstrable track record of successfully matching trading houses with inventive financing that spans nearly two decades. Her impressive connections, capacity to raise funds and ability to think laterally are unrivalled. She knows the market and the market knows her. Quite simply, Carolina brings people together to get deals done. Carolina’s interest in commodities was sparked early in her career working for leading commodities trader Trafigura before a move into banking, specialising in commodities, at HypoVereinsbank. This led to management roles as a credit expert at Nomura International, Standard Bank and Jefferies Bache where Carolina was Head of Corporate Credit EMEA. Before setting up Cubri Services, Carolina held a senior advisory at leading derivatives broker Sucden Financial. Carolina has been based in Geneva since 2019. Carolina is experienced in raising capital for start-ups and, as a screening committee member for Angel Academe, is an angel investor for women-founded businesses. She holds a PGDip in Strategy and Innovation from the University of Oxford, a Crypto Currency and Disruption certification from LSE and a Master’s in European Business from ESCP Business School.

John O'Mulloy
Global Head Of Trade
Finance – Standard Bank Group
John O’Mulloy has spent over 40 years building and leading the Global Trade Finance businesses of first Chase Manhattan and then Standard Bank. The numerous transactions John has personally led mean his corporate, bank and insurance relationships span the globe. Most recently, he has developed expertise in arranging Chinese Bank financing in Emerging Markets. This has included the Belt and Road Initiative, as well as several successful commercial negotiations for western clients with Chinese state-owned and private companies. He is a founder member of the editorial board of Global Trade Review, member of the Association of Foreign Banks Trade Finance Committee and has contributed to various articles and books including The Economist Guide to Country Risk.

Rosalind Singleton
Chair – UK5G Advisory Board
Rosalind Singleton is a board level executive with over 30 years’ experience in telecoms and technology.
Rosalind joined UK Broadband (UKB) in 2013 and became managing director of 3 Private Networks following the sale of UKB to Three. She had previously held senior roles at Cable & Wireless, BT Openreach and Vodafone, among others.
Rosalind serves on Ofcom’s Spectrum Advisory Board
or the last five years, Rosalind has been an active angel investor and mentor. As a member of the Angel Academe Advisory Board, she focuses primarily on tech businesses with a female founder. One of her deals won ‘Female Led Investment of the Year’ at the UKBAA 2018 Awards.

Eric Clement
Managing Director – NYCEDC
Eric Clement leads the Strategic Investments Group at the New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC). There, he directs teams that oversee tax incentive negotiations and the issuance of taxable/tax-exempt debt, in addition to a portfolio of debt and equity funds on behalf of NYC.
Eric has led opportunities across multiple industries and product groups including investment banking, consulting, infrastructure, healthcare, retail, marketing and telecommunications. Eric spent time working in London, sub-Saharan Africa and the United States, most recently as a partner at Blue Frontier Group, an emerging markets private equity firm – SGI Global Holdings – and various executive and management-level positions at Accenture, Citigroup and JPMorgan.
Eric received his MBA from the University of Oxford.

Irshad Paurobally

Irshad Paurobally has extensive experience working within the fast-paced, regulated environments of the financial industry in both developed and emerging jurisdictions. He is proficient in implementing strategies, managing execution and defining new products for target markets.
Irshad joined the Barclays Leadership Programme in Africa in 2007 after co-founding a publishing start-up (Omniscience PG) in Oxford.
Irshad read law at Durham University and holds a Master’s in Business Administration (Technology Pathway) from Durham University Business School. Passionate about digital banking and technology innovation, Irshad completed fintech and blockchain programmes at Oxford University’s Saïd Business School, graduating with a post-graduate diploma in Strategy & Innovation.

RUI OLIVEIRA
CEO – BFA Asset Management
Rui Oliveira began his career at Morgan Stanley and Citigroup and has more than ten years’ experience as a capital markets specialist. He served as Technical Team Leader for the 2018 Angola Eurobond issuance, which vastly exceeded expectations.
Rui was a founding member and former Executive Director of the Angola Stock Exchange. He spent four years as Head of Markets at the Ministry of Finance for Angola and today heads the country’s largest private equity firm.
Rui holds a PGDip in Strategy & Innovation from the University of Oxford, a bachelor’s degree from Berkeley College, an MSc in Finance from Imperial College, London and certification in Securities Operations from the ICMA.
